Though my role is a teacher in the classroom, I am also life long learner like my students. I have always wanted to teach since I was in kindergarten, teaching my homework to my make believe students in my kitchen. I earned my teaching credentials through Loyola Marymount University, and received my bachelor in Environmental Studies, minor in teaching, from UC Santa Barbara. I have been teaching kids in and out of the classroom for the past five years, and am anxious to continue to grow as an educator at MRA. In my teaching I aim to help students grow as confident individuals willing to take risks, critical thinkers, and positive citizens of our community. Each group of students is unique and I will work to create goals with each student to help them be successful. When I am not teaching I love being outdoors in whatever capacity. I often go backpacking, biking, or running. I also love swing dancing and trying out different styles of art like painting or pottery. I am always looking to try something new or hone my skills.
As associate teacher this year, I am looking forward to exploring learning with each child, teaching, helping them to achieve their own goals and adding a little fun to the process.
I grew up in Missouri and completed my bachelor in English, Creative Writing in 2011 at Webster University. Working with children has always been a constant in my life. Although I’ve done my share of odd jobs and moved around a lot in the last 9 years, I have continued to work with children. Whether a nanny or a tutor, or a couch buddy on date night, teaching had always been a goal of mine.
In my spare time I love to explore and be in the outdoors. When I'm not there, I'm usually at home playing board games with friends. I’m fun loving, positive and always ready for a challenge.
